Lamoraga
I had not finish posting all restaurants I have tried in HKG and Macau, and not yet find time to strart with millions experinces in Paris. but I was into a MBA program and time is something very precious!!!!
now that I'm on holiday I'll try to post many things. and let's start with Lamoraga in Spain, my last destination.
I discovered Lamoraga last year, there was only one in Malaga. It's a gastrobar of the chef dani Garcia who owned Calima in Hotel melia don pepe in Marbella (1 star at the michelin guide)
this year Lamoraga sems to be everywhere, in puerto Banus, at the corté ingles, in the new malaga airport....
the concept is really nice (but I have to admitt that it's a copy of l'atelier de Joel Robuchon) so there is a bar and tables, its much more funny to be at the bar as inside the bar are the kitchens and you can have a look to all the preparations steps of the dishes, and there is a convivialy in a bar, you discuss with your neighbour, you ask him what is the dish he's eating. its a nice experience.
so what about the service???? the men who is in charge of seating you and taking your name is terrible, very snobish. not in a hospitality and service mood at all!!!! but once you have a seat (if you are lucky) the waitress in general are nice and kind there is a skinny little french girl so kind and so passionate with her job.
now more seriously let's talk about food. I went to the one in Puerto Banus 4 times so I have many pictures to share and comment
and I also went to the one at the airport of Malaga where the menu is slightly diff erent.
lets start wit h puerto Banus one, i'll try to put pictures from my favorite dish to the one that i will not order again.
1/ the Cherry Gazpacho, it's the signature dish of Dani Garcia. a typical andalousian gazpacho where he added black cherry juice, chimical cheese snow, basil oil and a touch of pistachio and anchovy
2/mero sashimi new style excellent, perfect dressing
3/langostinos tempura salad, very nice in the same style than the rock shrimp tempura at nobu the same creamy spice dressing on top of it
4/ foie gras, goat cheese and green apple "millefeuille"
5/the grilled lobster over potatoes purée.
6/ Lamoraga spécial burgers:fish burger and burger bull
7/tomate/ mozza roll on Lamoraga pestou
8/scallops tartare in a citric juice
9/the grilled lamb chops are really good.
10/marineted anchovy over pimiento salad. good but in comparaison with the one at l'atelier nothing to compare with.....
11/merluza in white adobo style, fish was of excellent quality and taste but I still prefer the real adobo recipe.
12/ The Caviar with fried quail eggs and mushrooms, the Caviar is spanish from granada, very surprised by the quality and taste, but the dish wasn't in harmony. the taste of mushrooms was too strong in comparaison with the caviar. and I was expecting a much more elegant presentation for the caviar dish on the menu.
13/ the Chicken roll with avocado and raddish, nice texture but the raddish too strong and bitter.
so that was about the menu, the desert are good, spcially the apple pie
the chocolate lata is excellent its a kind (fuck i'll wright in french... I don't know all the pastry terms in english and I don't wanna spend 3 hours on reverso.com) mousse au chocolat, mousse vanille au dessus d'un biscuit mirliton imbibée à l'eau d'amande.
the third one was just so so!!! it's a chocolate soufflé, the taste was good, I liked it, chocolate and cinamoon but it has not the texture of a soufflé not spongy!!!! it was more like a fondant but really fondant.
we were always 3 at Lamoraga, we have paid aroun 90-100 by eating really well, drinking coke and sparkling water but no alcohol.
I recommand you definetly to try Lamoraga banus if you are in marbella, there's no booking so you better be there at the opening: from 1pm-5.30pm lunch/ from 7.30pm to midnight for dinner.
it's just in front of the main entrance of the mall El corté inglés. or just next to the hard rock café
