L'Abeille at the Shangri la hotel
" Named in homage to Napoleon's favourite emblem, the bee, the French gastronomic restaurant l'Abeille, offers sophisticated cuisine created by the renowned chef, Philippe Labbé"
I went to try l'Abeille with my friends "The Mousquetaires", I tried the coffe shop La Bauhinia few months ago, at the opening of the hotel, and I was disappointed by my experience . So I was so so regarding L'Abeille, but I have to say before starting the review step by step that it was really good.
the design is nice, classical but elegant, the service is good, still a bit stressy but good and careful, the choice of tableware is excellent and the food is delicious.
we had as Amuse bouche first a beetroot cornet with sesame sherbet.
then we had 4 other little amuse bouche a cheese and truffle bonbon, a foie gras macaron, a nano Flamenkuche and a foie gras bonbon. everything was deliscious, I did not try the pie because it had some pork on it ;-(
As we were on Vip mood with M.M the chef sent us some extra dish as the langoustine on a pea soup.
I ordered a the Artichoke that came on 2 services, the first one is a cooked in the broth of his leaf served in a orange and pistachio light jelly. Cuit au fumet de ses feuilles, dans une gelée juste-prise à l’orange sanguine et pistache.
then the second service is En cocotte luttée, fleurs et feuilles d’oranger, nage d’artichaut à l’huile d’olive et orange sanguine.
this was absouloutely fantastic, specially that it was first week of april and thus the first artichoke of the season.
the chef sent us again a dish the royal langoustines En Bellevue, agrumes, mousse de fenouil sauvage et fenouil bronze, pulpe crémeuse de citron “ Meyer ” pour les saucer.
to continue I shared with M.M the lamb that comes also on 2 services:
the first is the shoulder confite aux épices, ail et échalotes noir d’Aomori, vrai jus.
the shoulder was amazing, cooked to perfection, very tasty...texture, flavors everything was perfect.
the second service was Le ris rôti, févettes, gnocchi, caillé frais du “ Père Fabre ” agar agar de basilic citron, écume de lait.
this was great, not fantastic comparing to the taste of the shoulder but great enough.
they serve you a pre dessert, an aloe vera sherbet that is refreshing, very fine, tasty... delicious
and to finish I took the strawberry and Avocado that was really to die for
I highly recommand L'Abeille at Shangri-La Paris, it's a bit expensive, I paid around 250 euros with a diet coke and a verbena, but the experience deserve the price.
