Cabana La Palapa @ Ajusco

I went to the ranch of friends in Ajusco, on the mountains around Mexico City, we had lunch at Cabana La Palapa, a small little restaurant family owned and managed.

the restaurant have a nice situation on the mountain in the middle of the forest and trees. it's very a quiet place

the home speciality is Cecina a salted grilled beef with cactus and mexican cheese. Also the home made blue corn tortilla and the green chili sauce.

the beef is really tasty and excellent.

the tortilla, hot just cooked is super good.

in the kitchen all the family is working on something.

We've tried also the fried cheese quesadillas and also huitlacoche (fried corn fungus) quesadillas....

corn fungus is something that you can have only during few days on april in Mexico, so if you are around on that period you absolutely have to try it. it's really good specially with the green chili sauce.

Tested and written by Mimi

prices are just unbelievable, I never seen a place as cheap... and as good on quality and taste.

try the fresh squeezed orange juice at less than 1 euros the glass.
