Marea NYC by Michael White 2*
Marea is an italian restaurant opened about 3 years ago by Michael White in front of central park on 59th street just near Colombus circle.
I have seen this restaurant on the Michelin guide several times but I don't know why i have never tried it.
A friend invited me yesterday and I was really surprised. I'm happy cause I've finally ffound my italian restaurant in NYC.
the place is really nice on the ground floor, very bright, a bit noisy but a silent restaurant can't be italian so it's fine.
I took as starter the ASTICE nova scotia lobster, burrata, eggplant al funghetto, basil, that was so delicious, the Burrata cheese is just amazing.
then to follow I wanted to eat pasta so I tried the SPAGHETTI fresh cut semolina pasta, crab, santa barbara sea urchin, basil. I loved it, pasta cooked to perfection, very well balanced.... really good.
I also tried pasta that are not on the menu, with shrimp and a kind of armoricaine sauce. delicious
and surprinsigly dessert were also good
I tried the sorrento lemon curd tart, ricotta gelato, brown butter crumble, candied rose. not bad at all
and I also wanted to try the BOMBOLONI deep fried doughnuts, zabaglione crema, espresso crumble chocolate sauce, white espresso gelato. I loved them, I was remembering myself child eating doughnuts at Skhirat beach in Morocco.
I highly recommand Marea. it's an excellent italian restaurant and not expensive for what is it.
